The Lennoxville and District Women’s Centre has been cultivating a relationship with English-speaking women in Estrie for over 35 years now. Their mission has been to provide resources and develop programming for women in our community with the goal of establishing a safe and nurturing environment in which women can thrive and grow. It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, therefore that their most recent project is a collective garden, When COVID entered our lives last Spring, the LDWC’s activities went as virtual as possible. In an effort to preserve some “in-person” activities (while following protocol), Programs and Community Outreach Coordinator for the LDWC, Lucy Levasseur thought of a garden. With the permission ofgenerous local landowners, they were able to secure a plot, and create a very successful harvest last year – and are only expanding this year.
