As levels of poverty and violence in Central America continue to be among the worst in the world, more migrants are heading north towards the United States in search of a better future. But the journey is long and difficult.
A group of Mexican women in the Eastern state of Veracruz, decided to bring some kindness to the migrants crossing their path.
The group is called Las Patronas and every day they cook dozens of lunches to pass out to the weary travelers.
Norma Romero Vasquez is the founder of the group and this week’s Game Changer.
Norma has been visiting different universities around the world to talk about Las Patronas and raise more awareness about the migrant crisis in Central America.
