An eight-year-old girl from Heacham was inspired by a Youtube video to sell her toys and help the homeless.
Ava MacGowan-Rudd decided to sell her iPod, dolls and toys for £90 so she could create care packages to send to the Purfleet Trust to help those in need.
She said: “I saw it on a Youtube video and I wanted to try it myself. I sold my iPod, a baby pushchair and dolls. I put spaghetti, cereal, washing up stuff, shower gel, toothbrushes, some chocolate and lots of other stuff into the care packages. Maybe next year I will do it again and sell the toys I have now.”
Her mother, Heidi, added: “I don’t know where she got the idea from but I’m so proud of her. She made £90 and used it all to make eight care packages and some leftovers to donate to the Purfleet Trust.”
King’s Lynn’s Purfleet Trust provides support for the homeless including housing advice and a Health and Wellbeing Centre where they provide daily hot meals and the opportunity to learn life skills.
