Homeless Californians vs. Property Billionaires: Inside America’s Housing Crisis



Temporary eviction bans are in place across the U.S., but when they are over, renters will still have to pay back any missed rent. Tens of millions of people will be at risk of eviction.

These homeless and marginally housed mothers in Oakland know the story well. Their collective, Moms4Housing, was formed when four mothers occupied a home with their children in Oakland at the end of 2019. They were evicted after 58 days, but they didn’t stop there. They are now organizing against a looming eviction crisis and homelessness, on the streets and on the campaign trail.
