This holiday season, one creative gift has touched homeless Houstonians, and it came straight from the generous heart of 7-year-old Dylan Virtudazo.
When Dylan was given money for his birthday, he decided to use it to help create “blessing bags” for Houston’s homeless. Instead of opting for a toy or a new bat for his birthday, Dylan chose to give his gift to Houston’s most vulnerable.
“His heart is so sentimental. He told my close friend, ‘Miss Amanda, do you know what I’m going to do with that money? I’m going to feed the homeless,'” his mom Nancy Virtudazo told Chron.

Nancy said Dylan used his birthday money to buy snacks, combs and other hygiene products for homeless Houstonians. The blessing bags also contain a heartfelt message for homeless Houstonians: “You matter, God Bless!”
Dylan’s family filled up 50 blessing bags to hand out to homeless people this Thanksgiving around the Houston Mapleridge neighborhood.
“He’s 7-years-old but he thinks like a grown kid,” Nancy said. “You will feel the love in all that he does. He’s just so caring. A caring selfless boy who continues to love while the world is going down the hill…a boy who put others before him. I love that about my son.”
When Dylan’s teacher, Mr. Stefan, heard about Dylan’s plan, he and the other second grade teachers chipped in too, Nancy said.
“We’re so proud of him,” Nancy said. “I pray his story never ends and he continues to lead his generation by example.”
