Human trafficking awareness event happening Monday


HOLLAND — A local organization is hosting an event to raise awareness of the signs of human trafficking next week. Becky McDonald, founder and president of Women At Risk International, will discuss signs of human trafficking.

The event was organized by Helen Zeerip, owner of Teddy’s Transport in Holland and founder of Grant Me Hope. It will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at Teddy’s Transport, located at 930 Interchange Drive in Holland.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, as the event will be outside on the lawn. In the event of rain, the event will move inside the warehouse at Teddy’s Transport. 

McDonald has spent three decades working internationally on anti-trafficking issues. She has previously spoken at events at the Pentagon, Fort Bragg and the Michigan Department of Transportation, among others. 

The event will feature a table selling a variety of items made by survivors of sex trafficking as well.
