The cancer community is under tremendous stress as countries navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. From postponed surgeries to concerns about exposure with a compromised immune system, cancer patients and caretakers are confronting difficult decisions—and a barrage of news—on a daily basis.
BCRF Investigator Professor Dame Lesley Fallowfield, DBE, BSc, DPhil, FMedSci is a professor of psycho-oncology at Brighton and Sussex Medical School in the United Kingdom. Her work focuses specifically on anxiety and stress in breast cancer patients.
In this video, we invited Dame Fallowfield (who, like many others, is working full-time from home to #flattenthecurve) to talk with BCRF Research Program Director Margaret Flowers, PhD. Here, they discuss Dame Fallowfield’s work, what patients and caretakers are going through, and her practical tips for managing stress. Grab a cup of tea and settle in.
