A brand new family restaurant ‘The Unit’ has opened in Whiteinch.
The South Street venue is described as a ‘custom designed family restaurant and social space’, with 10,000 sq ft and a large outdoor garden to help cater for social distancing.
The restaurant has a children’s play area, pool tables and a unique dessert bar operated by youngsters who live in the local area.
Meanwhile there’s a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu offering up the likes of Philly cheese steaks and baby back BBQ ribs.
The Unit is a not-for-profit operated by Well Fed Scotland, with every £10 spent providing roughly 1.5 free meals to kids.
Furthermore, their fantastic team have been working around the clock to deliver 500 meals a day to the city’s homeless, and almost half a million meals to vulnerable families.
The venue’s Claire Lilley told Glasgow Live: “We have made and delivered 475,000 meals to vulnerable families in Glasgow.
“We do 800 lunch boxes and 500 meals per day to the city’s homeless and we have a food, toy and clothes pantry in the restaurant.
“It’s a bit of a different concept as we have created a main team environment that is perfect for families to relax in, but at the same time we are able to use that revenue to support people all over Glasgow.”
A fantastic new food and drink venture for a very good cause, and one we’re sure Glaswegians will be delighted to get behind.
