Earlier charges were related to a call Calgary police received on March 25 that led officers to the Sandman Hotel on 7 Avenue S.W. for a welfare check on a 15-year-old girl.
Investigators said the teenage girl was trafficked by a woman who introduced her to Mazar with the intent of exchanging sex acts for drugs and money. Police believe the victim was repeatedly sexually assaulted by the two accused.
Police charged Cheyenne Madison Savannah Lee Schmeikal, 19, and Mazar with multiple charges related to human trafficking, child pornography and sexual assault.
Mazar remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, said police.
Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact child abuse Det. Amy Spence at 403-428-5457.
Victims of sexual assault can report the incident to police by calling 403-266-1234, or 911 if they are in immediate danger. There is no time limit to reporting sexual assault in Canada.
