Readers React: Downtown’s homeless issues don’t appear to be getting better

Take a walk down F Street between 10th and Seventh Avenues around 9 a.m. All you see is trash scattered everywhere. Homeless people propped up against fences, sitting on the curb or sidewalks smoking cigarettes and pot and drinking. Refusing to move as you try to pass. It’s frightening to walk there.

To Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Mayor-elect Todd Gloria, I have seen no improvement on solving the homeless problem here in San Diego. I see it worse than ever.

How hard would it be for the police to hand them a trash bag and “order” them to clean up their mess?

Unfortunately, a local resident or business owner couldn’t do this without being threatened.
