Salvation Army Emergency Shelter Open



MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama will continue their 24-hour emergency shelter for homeless men, women and children during this winter weather.Tuesday, 190 men and women come in from the freeze and sleet throughout the day. More than 130 stayed overnight, in addition to nearly 100 men that stay every night.The Salvation Army will stay open as a 24-hour emergency shelter through Thursday morning. They will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as coffee and water to anyone coming in from the cold.If anyone in the community is interested in helping The Salvation Army, they could use donations of hot chocolate, coffee, water and food to help feed the extra meals. Donations of blankets and warm clothing will be given out to those in need. And monetary donations are always welcome.The Salvation Army‚„s shelter is located at 1009 Dauphin Street.
