Please listen to and enjoy the first release of music from our virtual summer concert, then visit Justgiving – www.justgiving.com/fundraising/SWSongbirds – to donate to the the Earlsfield Community Response Fund at St Andrew’s Church, who have been supporting local people in need during the coronavirus crisis and beyond, running the Earlsfield Foodbank and providing fresh cooked meals on a daily basis to those in need.
The Southwest Songbirds, Earlsfield’s favourite all-female choir, have been rehearsing together on Zoom during lockdown thanks to our musical director, Polly May, and accompanist, George Webster. We’re delighted to announce the release of a double ‘A-side’ of concert tracks, which were recorded individually by members of the choir at home then magically brought together by Polly to make the big choir sound that the Songbirds are locally known and loved for, in our normally twice-yearly charity concerts! The two tracks are the Bond favourites ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ (1971, by Don Black & John Barry) and ‘Nobody Does It Better’ (by Carole Bayer Sager & Marvin Hamlisch, from the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me).
Many thanks to Polly May for all her extraordinary work, George Webster for all the accompanying music and all the members of the Southwest Songbirds who have rehearsed each week and recorded these tracks!
