ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — A Steuben County legislator is among five men charged in a sex trafficking ring.
WENY-TV reports Steven Maio of Corning was arrested Friday. The other suspects are Larry Comfort, Senior and Larry Comfort, Junior, both from Elmira Heights, Jonathan Hamilton of Elmira, and Michael Stratton of the town of Corning.
The recently unsealed indictment contains over 30 counts of sex trafficking following a lengthy investigation. Steuben County’s Republican and Democratic committees are calling for Maio to resign.
