Durham police have arrested a Whitby man accused of forcing an 18-year-old woman to work in the sex trade.
They say the woman spoke to officers in November.
She told them she was picked up outside of Durham Region and taken to a hotel in Bowmanville. Officers say she was trafficked and exploited by a man.
On Thursday, police announced that Brendon Bongard, 37, has been charged with: procuring exercise control, material benefit trafficking person over 18, material benefit from sexual services, trafficking in persons by recruiting and obtaining sexual services for consideration.
He is being held for a bail hearing.
Investigators are releasing a photo of Bongard to ensure there are no other victims.
