A Mississauga man is facing human trafficking charges after a woman was allegedly held captive and forced to work in the sex trade.
A 9-1-1 call from a 22 year-old woman lead officers to a Pickering address on Thursday.
Nitharshan Elansooriyanathan, 30, was arrested at the scene and charged with sexual assault, sexual assault with choking, obtaining sexual services for consideration, Advertising Sexual Services, Material Benefit from Sexual Services, Procuring/Exercise Control, Material Benefit from Trafficking Person, and Trafficking in Persons by Exercising Control.
Investigators are concerned that there could be other victims and urge them to come forward.
